My writing about Haiti has appeared in The New York Times, The Economist, The Daily Beast, The London Review of Books, Foreign Policy, and other places. From 2000 to 2003, I was a reporter at the Wall Street Journal. I have a law degree from Harvard, which, in 2007, awarded me a one-year fellowship to practice human rights law in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. For the next few years, I wrote about Haiti as a fellow at the Institute of Current World Affairs. I moved to New York in the fall of 2011. In 2013, I joined OZY Media, a startup digital magazine, as writer and editor.
